We kickstarted outreach with a devotional led by Romie about being gracious with ourselves and others. With this important reminder, we were on our way to our first clinic site in Nyanbindo.

On arriving to the site, we were greeted by many patients waiting to be seen. The first thing that stood out was just how grateful this community was to have us there. The day wasn’t without some challenges, as we quickly navigated a new way of practicing medicine; adjusting to language barriers, cultural differences, and limited resources. It took a good part of the morning to find our groove, but in the end (and despite the rain), we were able to see 196 patients in a community that is truly in need of access to quality healthcare. The community’s gratitude was palpable throughout the day, the ones who remained as we packed up at the end thanked us again and waved us goodbye. A truly humbling experience.

Overall, it was a great start to the week; we hope to keep these numbers up and serve as many patients as we can.

Looking forward to serving a different community tomorrow with the hope that we will learn from any mistakes and missteps today in order to serve together with a common purpose.
