Wheelchair Team Uganda: Safari

It is bittersweet that we say goodbye today to the Pearl of Africa with a sunset safari and stargazing on the Nile.

When we started this trip we planned to deliver 33 wheelchairs. Overall we built, fit, and delivered 40 wheelchairs, delivered 10 pairs of crutches and 5 walkers, performed 2 wheelchair evaluations for future delivery, made 2 wheelchair repairs, evaluated 2 prosthetic measurements, and carried out 5 physical therapy rehab sessions. None of this would have been possible without the hard work of Patrick from the Masindi Disabled Persons Union, Anthony and Simon, from MKMC, determination and persistence building wheelchairs, and our amazing team from the US.

On our safari we were fortunate to see families of lions, a leopard, elephants, baboons, giraffes, and hippos just to name a few. Our guide, Martha, did a fantastic job pointing out the hard to find mammals and making this such a unique experience.

I think I speak for everyone to say so long for now, we can’t wait to come back!
