I was blessed to spend the day in Popoyuapa. A word I would use to describe the people I met today is giving. I met a little girl who spent hours making our group personalized bracelets and teaching us different methods of how to make them ourselves. She picked out all of the colors and designs and had so much talent for such a young girl. Watching her big smile while giving us bracelets she proudly made was priceless.

I met another women who was so grateful that we were supporting her community that she gave me the biggest hug and gave me all of her blessings and prayers.

At the end of the day two little girls wanted to give back to us by putting on a beautiful performance before we left. They wore gorgeous white and blue dresses and danced to traditional Nicaraguan music to show us their appreciation.

I met almost everyone who walked into the clinic today and although some interactions were fairly brief, they were special moments I will never forget. I wanted to come on this mission to give back, but I truly didn’t realize how much I would also be receiving. The people of Popoyuapa truly hold a very special place in my heart.
