Today was our third day of outreach and we traveled to the village of Kitwetwe. We saw and treated 275 people, the most yet during our time in Uganda. On our ride to the village we learned about Ugandan marriage including the steps taken to marry, and what life may look like for those who are married with one, or many, wives. We were further educated on how different Uganda lifestyle is compared to what we are used to in the USA, which continues to alter perspectives and appreciation for what we have back home. Many Ugandans work all day harvesting and planting sugarcane, sometimes all loading into the same truck, sometimes as many as 100 workers, to harvest all day long only to take home roughly $3 for a day of work. We had an amazing day of outreach once we arrived to Kitwetwe. Our team working like a well-oiled machine to touch as many Uganda lives as possible. There were a lot of patients who required wound care - the most so far out of any outreach day. Many of the patients we saw were farmers, so low back pain was also a common ailment. We sent some people home with new wheelchairs, walkers, shoes, and sets of crutches. At the end of a full day of hard work, we enjoyed some time playing with the local children. The joy and appreciation shown by those we help are a testament to God’s grace and what he allows us to do through his Kingdom. Our third day of outreach was unforgettable and we look forward to what God has in store for us during the remainder of our time in Uganda.
