Our theme word today was community, fitting for the village of Kituka we visited today. It is incredible to see the strong community ties the people of each village build over the course of their lives. They have an obvious love and respect for one another: the toddlers are trusted to wander around the clinic, people carrying each other into clinic, and everyone happy for each other to be receiving medical care.
While working in this community, we served 278 patients, treated over 75 people for malaria, and gave 2 wheelchairs away. We also experienced our very first Ugandan rainstorm during clinic!
We’ve learned a lot about community and fellowship from the Ugandan people. I can’t wait to see how our team grows together during the remainder of our trip.
